Description of training module
In this module we aim to develop the facilitation skills of participants for confronting discriminatory practices within diverse contexts. Participants will be able to identify and understand different levels of hate and how they can escalate using the Pyramid of Hate. This module addresses complex issues related to any of the 9 protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation and disability. Participants will learn methods to understand elements of human behaviour and to create a Pyramid of Hope, to counteract discriminatory practices identified in the training.

The Pyramid of Hate was developed by the Anti/Defamation League as part of its curriculum for its A World of Difference (RM) Institute. The Pyramid of Hope was developed and validated by Empower Training & Development and ICA Spain facilitators, together with community practitioners, adult educators and academics from Sweden, Turkey, Spain and the United Kingdom.
